Electrochemical Characterisation for Battery Second-Life Scoring
Key outcome
Weeks → minutes
The Challenge
A battery recycler was spending weeks per batch on manual electrochemical characterisation to determine second-life viability — a bottleneck that prevented scaling operations profitably and left grading decisions subjective and slow.
What We Built
We built a SaaS system that takes electrochemical test data as input, runs it through a trained degradation model calibrated on tens of thousands of historical cells, and outputs a second-life viability score with confidence intervals — in minutes rather than weeks.
The Result
Characterisation throughput increased 40×. The recycler can now make grade and routing decisions at intake speed, unlocking a repurposing stream that was previously uneconomical. Revenue per tonne of processed batteries increased by 31%.
