72-Hour Dispatch Foresight for Grid Operator
Key outcome
72-hour dispatch foresight
The Challenge
A grid operator was running on day-ahead forecasts that could not account for fast-changing weather patterns, renewable intermittency, and demand volatility — leading to costly imbalance penalties and manual override cycles.
What We Built
We built a rolling forecasting backbone that fuses weather data, historical demand patterns, and real-time generation signals into a 72-hour dispatch recommendation engine. The model retrains daily on fresh market data and exposes its uncertainty bounds explicitly to operators.
The Result
Forecast accuracy at the 48-hour horizon improved by 23%. Imbalance penalties reduced by €1.2M in the first year of operation. The operator now bids into the balancing market with confidence intervals rather than point estimates.
